<p>The Argumentation and Communication Leadership Academy is pleased to announce our summer tournament event: The 2016 Sunshine in My Pocket Summer Invitational. This tournament is a summer event for competitors to keep their skills sharp and get a head start on the 2016-2017 speech and debate season. The tournament will be held at CSU Fullerton on Saturday, August 6.</p> <p>Address: 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92831</p> <p>Park in the Lot F off of Nutwood near the Marriott Hotel. Enter campus on Folino Drive, adjacent to Mihaylo Hall. Parking is free on Saturday.</p> <p>All rounds will be held in the Humanities Building on the Cal State Fullerton main campus.</p> <p>The Sunshine in My Pocket Summer Invitational tournament will have both Speech and Debate events. This tournament will feature standard competition events along with new events not traditionally offered at typical tournaments.</p> <p>We will have events for three separate age groups. Elementary will consist of grades 3 through 5, Middle School will be grades 6 through 8, and High School will be grades 9 through 12. Students will compete using the grade that the student will begin in Fall 2016.</p> <p>There are no school fees. If fees are paid via PayPal prior to August 1, each event is $15 per competitor. Parli will be $30 per team and MSPD will be $45 per team. If tournament fees are paid on the day of the tournament, the price is $20 per competitor, Debate $40 per team and MSPD $60 per team. Payment can be made to wwashington@aclacademy.org.&nbsp;</p> <p>Registration will open June 21 and close August 2. Fees are frozen on August 2. Schools may add competitors up until August 4 (see fees for &ldquo;day of tournament&rdquo; pricing as above).</p> <p>Interp, Original Oratory, and Informative: This is a tournament to get students ready for the 2016-2017 season, so we encourage middle school and high school students not to enter events that were used in competition during the 2015-2016 season.</p> <p>Novice Division: We will be offering a Novice division in some of our events. This division is for English Language Learners who do not speak English as their primary language.</p> <p>Lunch: Optional lunch will be provided by Jersey Mike&rsquo;s for $12 per student. Lunch includes a sandwich, chips, and a drink. If you would like the tournament to provide lunch for your student, please indicate this on Forensicstournament.net in &ldquo;Per Person Fee&rdquo; tab.</p> <p>We will offer 4 rounds of Pattern A events. Awards will be based on performances in all four rounds. Pattern B will have 3 rounds and a final. If a student is in Pattern A and makes it to finals in Pattern B, then they should attend their Pattern A event first and then attend their Pattern B finals event.&nbsp;</p> <p>Awards: The top 3 students in each category will receive trophies and, depending on the number of entries, medals will be awarded to other top ranking competitors.</p> <p>Pattern C: All age groups will have the opportunity to compete in an experimental event presented by Modern Brain Academy. This event is designed to test the well roundedness of the competitor.
