Hi folks, this is a "post-State" forensics tournament here in beautiful Newport, OR. It is a one-day event, Saturday, May 12. We will need the usual help with judges. We begin at 9 a.m., and hope to end no later than 4 p.m.

Regarding Debate: we are offerring CX, Public, Public Forum, and L-D, but we will need a mnimum of five entries per format in order for this to work.

Public Forum will be using the April topic. Also, our L-D will be using the topic for June 2012 NFL national championships, which is supposed to be announced May 1st. I will post it ASAP.

Regarding IE events: we are offering the usual, with a couple of mergers:

Poetry/Prose will be together

Dramatic Interp/Humorous Interp will be together.

Also, we will need at least five entries per IE event to have that event.

This tournament is a great opportunity for your students who didn't make it to State this year, or for anyone who has not yet mentally detached from forensics for the year. And for that matter, it's always a great day to go to the beach.

Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm Todd Sholty, the Newport High Forensics coach, and you can get me at toddsholty@charter.net

New L-D topic!

For our L-D debaters, we will be debating the newly released National Tournament topic, which is:

Resolved: A government has the obligation to lessen the economic gap between its rich and poor citizens.
