Texas A&M High School Speech Tournament

January 19, 2013

 

 

Texas A&M-College Station is hosting a UIL speech tournament and we would like for you to attend. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, January 19, at the A&M Campus. We are excited about the contest and look forward to seeing all of you.

 

Our tournament will offer the following UIL speaking events: Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Informative Speaking, Persuasive Speaking, LD Debate and CX Debate. UIL rules and time limits will be followed in all events. LD will use the spring UIL topic. CX will debate the transportation topic. Contestants in Prose and Poetry need only bring one selection of their choice. In a change from last year, we will be offering Impromptu and the NFL events: Original Oratory, Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp and Congressional Debate. NOTE: Prose, Poetry, Informative, Persuasive, LD and CX will follow UIL rules. NO exceptions. TFA rules apply to all other events. Due to the one-day nature of our tournament, LD and CX debaters may NOT cross enter, Congress may only cross enter in section A

 This year we are guaranteeing two rounds of competition in all events.

 

Awards will be given to the top six finishers in each of the individual events; in debate, all those advancing to Semi Finals will be given awards.

 

The deadline for all entries is January 16, 2013 by 3pm. Please note that LD Debate and CX Debate will break to Quarters. Also, registration the day of the tournament ends at 7:30 am and competition begins at 8:00 am. Debate teams not registered by 8:00 am will not be able to compete in Round 1 and will be given a bye-loss.To ensure efficiency of the tournament, it is very important that we start on time.
