Topic areas for the 2010 Steve Hunt Classic

Topic areas are:

1. U.S. policies toward Afghanistan.
2. Israel/Palestine relations.
3. U.S. domestic economic policy
4. The cases of Mohamed et al. v Jeppesen Dataplan, Inc., American Electric Power v. Connecticut, and/or Saint Joseph Abbey v. Castille.
5. Political situation in Nigeria, Congo, and/or Central African Republic.

A reminder about Extemp and Impromptu

Hello.

As your students prepare, let me remind you that:

1. Impromptu will be NFA-style, meaning 1 quotation per round per section. Also, unlike years past, there will not be questioning by the judge, meaning the speech/prep is 7 minutes, not 6.

2. Extemp--you will notice on the schedule that there is not a designated time for extemp prep. Extemp prep begins when the pattern begins. We are going to try to limit the number of speakers in each section. Speakers should, of course, sign in to their other event if they are double entered. Extemp is also 7 minutes with no question.

None of this deviates from the invitation. Just a reminder.
