<p><strong>Entry Limitations:</strong> This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League.</p>
<p>It will feature a Varsity division and a Novice division in all events. In order to be eligible for the <strong>Novice division in Policy</strong>, debaters must not have competed in any high school <strong>debate</strong> tournament in previous school years (speech or congress participation ok). In cases where partners are "mixed" (one Novice, one Varsity), that pair must compete at the Varsity level.

 In order to be eligible for the <strong>Novice division in Congress or either Extemp, </strong>competitors must not have competed in any high school speech or debate tournament in any event in previous school years. </p>
<p>Competitors may enter in one event.</p>
<p><strong>Judges:</strong> Each school is required to bring 1 judge for every four LD/PF entries, or part thereof, AND one judge for every two Parli entries (LD/PF judges cannot be the same judges as the school's Parli judges). The required number of judges must be present throughout the entirety of the tournament. Schools not meeting their judging commitment at all times during the tournament will be required to drop uncovered entries. <a href=\"http://www.forensicstournament.net/SDIVSLDebate3/14/blog/\">Click here</a> for instructions regarding entering judges.<br />
<br />
<strong>Entry Fees:</strong> $12 per debate team; $6 per Lincoln-Douglas entry. Make checks payable to SDIVSL.<br />
<br />
<strong>Entry Deadline:</strong> Entries must be posted on www.forensicstournament.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9. No new teams or students may add after the entry deadline. The only changes allowed after the entry deadline is dropping entries (see below).<br />
<br />
<strong>Drops:</strong> Dropped entries will be accepted without charge until Thursday, November 12, at 12 p.m. (This is a day later than usual to accommodate for the holiday). After that time, the website will be closed and entry fees will be final. Please email (lily.bolig@sduhsd.net) or call in/text (Lily - 760-807-4482) your drops after the drop deadline, even as late as on your way to the tournament, to obviate excessive changes at the beginning of the tournament. When calling in or emailing drops, be sure to give the speaker’s name, event, and your school clearly.</p>
<p><strong>Rounds/Awards: </strong>All debaters will compete in four rounds. </p>
<p> Trophies will be given to all undefeated debaters. Medals will be given to all 1-loss debaters. Team sweepstakes points will be accumulated for League #4-#6 and awarded at League #6. Trophies will be given to the top 3 teams earning the most sweepstakes points in the varsity division only, then class trophies will be awarded as warranted. Trophies will also be given to the top 3 teams earning the most sweepstakes points in the novice division only, then class trophies will be awarded as warranted. (The number of class trophies is dependent upon the number of teams competing in the tournaments. Classes are determined by number of entries - teams are divided into classes based on their number of entries as compared to other teams entered in the tournament. This will vary from tournament to tournament.)</p>
