<p><strong>Tournament Director:</strong>&nbsp;Lily Bolig, VP of Debate (<a href=\"mailto:lily.bolig@sduhsd.net\">email</a>)<br /> <br /> <strong>Directions:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;Rancho Bernardo High School,&nbsp;13010 Paseo Lucido&nbsp;&nbsp;San Diego, California 92128</p> <p>Coming on the I-15, turn off at Camino Del Norte and proceed to the East.&nbsp; The first light past the freeway entrance lights is Carmel Mountain/Right Side and Paseo Lucio/Left Side. You should turn LEFT on PASEO LUCIDO.&nbsp; The VERY NEXT LIGHT is AVENIDA VENUSTO - TURN RIGHT.&nbsp; First driveway on left (about 100 yards) is our student lot - please turn in there and park.&nbsp; Walk to the north end of that lot (toward the school).&nbsp; Take the left ramp that continues on straight to the North.&nbsp; You will cross the bus circle and walk into the school.&nbsp; There will be signs.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Events:</strong>&nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Pattern A: </strong>Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate</p> <p><strong>Topics:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Lincoln-Douglas</strong><em>&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;September/October topic.&nbsp;</em>Resolved: A just society ought to presume consent for organ procurement from the deceased.&nbsp;WE WILL NOT BE USING THE NOVICE TOPIC.</p> <p><strong>Policy&nbsp;</strong><em>-&nbsp;</em>Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth&#39;s oceans.</p> <p><em><strong>Entry Limitations:</strong>&nbsp;</em>This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League.&nbsp;Each competitor may enter one event. All competitors will compete in all rounds. (Exception - Round 5 of LD may be limited as noted below.)</p> <p>This tournament will feature a varsity&nbsp;division and a novice division in both events.&nbsp;In order to be eligible for the&nbsp;<strong>Novice division</strong>, debaters must&nbsp;not have competed in any high school <strong>debate</strong> tournament in previous school years (speech or congress participation ok).&nbsp;In cases where partners are &quot;mixed&quot; (one Novice, one Varsity), that pair must compete at the Varsity level.

</p> <p><strong>Judges:</strong>&nbsp;Each school is required to bring 1 judge for every two policy teams, and 1 judge for every four LD competitors, or part thereof. Schools not meeting their judging commitment at all times during the tournament will be required to drop uncovered entries. Required number of judges must be present throughout the entire tournament.&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.forensicstournament.net/SDIVSLDebate3/14/blog/\">Click&nbsp;here</a>&nbsp;for instructions regarding entering judges.<br /> <br /> <strong>Entry Fees:</strong>&nbsp;$12 per Policy team; $6&nbsp;per LD entry. Make checks payable to SDIVSL.<br /> <br /> <strong>Entry Deadline:</strong>&nbsp;Entries must be posted on www.forensicstournament.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29. No new teams or students may add after the entry deadline. The only changes allowed after the entry deadline is dropping entries (see below).<br /> <br /> <strong>Drops:</strong>&nbsp;Dropped entries will be accepted without charge until Wednesday, October 1, at 5:00 p.m. After that time, the website will be closed and entry fees will be final. Please email (lily.bolig@sduhsd.net) or call in/text (<a href=\"tel:%28760.807-4482\" target=\"_blank\">760.807-4482</a>) your drops after the drop deadline, even as late as on your way to the tournament, to obviate excessive changes at the beginning of the tournament. When calling in or emailing drops, be sure to give the speaker&rsquo;s name, event, and your school clearly.</p> <p><strong>Awards:&nbsp;</strong>Awards will be given to places 1-8 in each division of each debate event.
