The tournament director reserves the right to make any decisions necessary to facilitate the
timely and accurate completion of the tournament. At the end of preliminary rounds, the maximum number of teams according to NPDA bylaws will advance to elimination rounds. Teams advance first based on win/loss record, then adjusted speaker points, then total speaker points, then judge variance. Brackets will be broken in elimination rounds.
Registration: Registration will occur at the Wingate Friday, September 23 from 6pm-9pm in the conference room in the main lobby.
Judging Philosophies: All debate judges must enter a judging philosophy on Forensics Tournament by Monday, September 19 at 5:00pm MST. Schools failing to enter their judges’ philosophies will forfeit the right to complete strikes and/or be required to pay a nuisance fee. Please enter philosophies when you enter your judges to ensure that other schools have access to information so that they can make appropriate decisions concerning their strikes.
Judging Obligations: Judges are asked to adjudicate all rounds in a fair and open-minded manner, awarding a win and a loss and speaker points appropriate to the quality of the teams judged. Judges will be expected to judge all preliminary rounds and through the first full elimination round. After that point, judges will be expected to judge one round past the elimination of their teams. Judges are asked to forfeit teams not ready to debate 25 minutes after topic is announced.
Judge Disclosure & Feedback: Judges should disclose their decisions and may provide commentary after rounds, but please conduct such commentary after the ballot has been returned by email. We will be attempting to power-match every round without lagging, so a prompt return ensures that the tournament stays on time. A warm room of results will be provided on parlitournament.com.
Awards: Individual awards will be presented to the top 10 open speakers and top 5 novice speakers. Additionally, awards (one per team) will be presented to all teams who advance to the quarterfinal round and beyond.
Strikes & Constraints: An appropriate number of strikes will be awarded for teams that have submitted judging philosophies online. Strike sheets will be emailed after the entry deadline passes.

Lodging
It is very important that you book your hotel rooms as soon as possible.
