Status: Tournament Completed

Dear AA Coach:

You are cordially invited to the Butte High School "The Richest Hill on Earth" Speech and Debate invitational tournament on October 27-28, 2017. Preliminary registrations are due to forensicstournament.net by Monday, October 16 at 5PM so we can get planning the tournament. Changes to your roster are accepted until 12PM on Wednesday, October 25. Please email me any drops after that time. Adds might be allowed but not if it adds a section. A registration fee of $5.00 for each student and event will be charged. Team events are $10.00. Drops/adds the day of the tournament will result in a $20.00 surcharge. Registration packets will be sent electronically during the evening of October 26. Please check my work and notify me of changes. We will bill your school for the registration fees. We ask that schools please include email so we can notify you of registration status immediately.

Entries will be limited to a total of 35 with no more than three entries in IEs, varsity LD, legi, and interps and three teams per event in Varsity Policy, PFD, and DUO. In novice, you get two LDers and two policy teams. Your novice entries count towards your 35 entries. Team events count as two entries. For example, if you bring two novice policy teams, that counts as four entries and three duos counts as six entries. POI is offered but will not count in sweeps. Please notify us of all coaches who will be attending along with their tabbing preferences. Coaches who are not given tab assignments will be placed in the judge pool. We intend to fill the novice judging positions first with community members then coaches if needed. You may want to instruct your coaches how to judge debate events if they have not done so in the past.

MHSA rules will apply. All events will be computer tabbed. Events will be self-timed. Please make sure all your students have their own timers. Please instruct your PFD teams to fill in the judges' ballots to avoid confusion of sides and teams.

Limited concessions will be offered. Pork Chop Johns and Staggering Ox are within walking distance of the high school. Students may also go to Naranche Stadium and get concessions as there is a football game Friday night.

Speech/ Interp rounds are Friday at 4, 6, and 8. Saturday rounds are 8:30, 10:30, 1 , and 3. Debate rounds are Friday at 4, 6, and 8. Saturday rounds are 8, 10, 12 (Q), 2 (S), and 4 (F).
