Welcome to the home page for the 2015 Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament tournament hosted by Ohio University on Mar 4-8, 2015 for College students.

Status: Tournament Completed

Dear Pi Kappa Delta and Forensic Colleagues,

I join the National Council of Pi Kappa Delta in extending this invitation to join us for Pi Kappa Delta’s 2015 Biennial Convention and Tournament March 4-8 on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, OH. I have been working with your national president, Jeff Stoppenhagen, your local host, Dan West, along with the National Council to offer you a spectacular tournament and convention.

This year’s tournament will feature the very best of intercollegiate forensics in a full range of individual and team events, including debate and individual events not before offered at a PKD national tournament. After several years of trying to schedule our tournament and convention within a three-day format, we have decided to expand to four days. This change in scheduling will enable us to offer a better managed tournament that offers its participants a more humane schedule and better opportunities to participate in convention and social events.

This invitation outlines details about the tournament and convention. Additional details will be featured and added on the Pi Kappa Delta website. Individuals are encouraged to visit the website at www.pikappadelta.com. The website will include updated information and forms for registration and hotel arrangements. You can also follow us on Twitter, @PiKappaDelta.

Please note the Wednesday, February 4th deadline for hotel reservations and initial tournament and convention entry. As in the past, a brief period for changes without penalty will be extended but initial entry must be made by the February 4th deadline.

In 2015, PKD will open its national archive at the birthplace of our organization, Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. Council Member Ryan Louis of Ottawa is coordinating the collecting of artifacts having historical importance. If you or your university possesses items that may befit an archive--and would wish to either donate or to provide the artifact(s) as a loan--please contact Ryan Louis (ryan.louis@ottawa.edu) or PKD Historian Susan Millsap (smillsap@otterbein.edu). You may also consider bringing these artifacts to the Biennial Convention and Tournament in March. If you do this, please notify Ryan/Susan in advance so we can plan for appropriate transport of artifacts. Examples of noteworthy artifacts include:

Programs, flyers and announcements from past tournaments

Artifacts denoting special recognition regarding PKD (trophies, certificates, items of merit)

Correspondence between PKD members

School or local newspaper/newsletter articles mentioning PKD

Agendas/Meeting Notes from past province or chapter meetings

The PKD Archives will be a place for all members to visit or conduct research. It will be open to all as a place to jointly remember our collective history.

We look forward to seeing you in Athens this March 4-8 for what promises to be an amazing tournament and convention!

Sincerely,

Scott Jensen Jeff Stoppenhagen Dan West

National Tournament Director National President Local Host

Constraints on Entering and Cross-Entering

Students may enter…

Two individual events in any flight

Two duos, with different partners and each duo counting as an event

Individual events and reader’s theatre and/or discussion

Individual events and NPDA/IPDA debate and L-D/Public Forum debate/Student Congress

Discussion and reader’s theatre but no debate in the first debate flight

    Reader’s Theatre and LD/Public Forum debate/Student Congress OR NPDA/IPDA debate—ALL

cast members must be in the same flight of debate

CEDA/NDT or Worlds and no other debate format

CEDA/NDT or Worlds and flight A or C Individual Events
