<p> <strong>2012 Irvine Valley College Winter Classic (aka &quot;The Mayor&#39;s Cup)</strong></p> <p> Welcome to the fourth annual &ldquo;IVC Winter Classic&rdquo;. We wish to express our appreciation to our hosts: The Irvine Valley College Speech and Debate Team. We also wish to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to the City of Irvine, for supporting what has been informally referred to as &ldquo;The Mayor&#39;s Cup&rdquo; tournament. Once again, the honorable Mayor of Irvine, will preside over the awards ceremony recognizing the top debaters in each division.</p> <p> As always, the purpose of this tournament is to provide students with an opportunity to debate with their peers on a topic, which is both significant and controversial. Students will be given an opportunity to debate twice on each side of the topic.
