Welcome to the home page for the 2015 National Christian College Forensics Invitational tournament hosted by Colorado Christian University on Mar 20-22, 2015 for College students.

Status: Tournament Completed

Welcome!

March 11 - the drop/change deadline has now passed - fees lock in at this point. If you have any drops, if you have an emergency concern, contact me directly at: sscott@georgefox.edu.

AN UPDATED SCHEDULE HAS NOW BEEN POSTED - This version uses staggered flighting to compress the IPDA preliminary rounds in order to get the tournament into a more reasonable wellness window and provide an additional standalone IPDA outround.

REMINDERS:

1) Dietary restrictions, disability concerns, etc.: Be sure to let us know about any special needs your students or judges might have. Out of 258 people, there is currently only one person who has notified me of dietary restrictions... that seems unlikely. Please let us know so that we can accommodate you!

2) Philosophies for Debate Judges: Due by March 15th - either through the website or emailed to me directly.

3) Topics for NPDA and IPDA: Due by March 11th - email to: profbourne@gmail.com. Please be sure to send in topics if you haven't already done so.

OLDER UPDATES:

UPDATE: Check out the host school's T-Shirt design below - on sale in comfy cotton in sizes S-XXXL for $20/shirt! (Chris Leland assures me that the typo was caught before press!)

1) Because we are currently anticipating flighting IPDA, the schedule shows only 4 prelims and one stand-alone outround. The remaining outround(s) will be integrated within the other events outrounds wherever cross-entries will accommodate them. To improve students' feedback and prevent 2-2 records, we will be using two-judge panels (dropping one ballot). If rooms, judges, and entries allow the change, we will update the schedule.

2) NFA-LD is currently slated in C Flight (again, in anticipation of a large IPDA entry). Students are still allowed to only enter IPDA or LD. LD debaters may single-enter in C Flight (they will do their IE first, then get to their debate rounds). If resources allow, we will shift LD back into the IPDA flight and allow LDers to triple enter in Flight C past the deadline.

3) Another note on LD: The new NFA guidelines allow digital media--but not active electronic communication--in rounds. However, the rules also state that you must be able to give up your laptop to your opponent for review of information that you've used. We strongly recommend that you bring paper copies of your most commonly run positions for this purpose (e.g., having a second copy of your Affirmative, favorite Disadvantages, etc.).

4) Although the fee calculator is active, please note that it is only tracking the meal fee for your students, not judges and other observers. Be sure to budget for those additional fees.

5) The Readers Theater function has been updated - in the past, it had caused some schools problems, both in fee calculation and in accurate entrants, especially when a school had more than one slot. I will be emailing you directly to confirm your entries.

6) IPDA and NPDA sanctioning forms have already been submitted. The NCCFI is well ahead of the NFA deadline for qualifications. However, the AFA NIET entry deadline is March 10th. Their tournament director might be willing to accommodate a late qualification leg, but you would need to contact them directly.

7) Help us continue to grow the base of qualified and community-committed judges! If you will be bringing judges or alumni (must have a degree for all events except IDPA) who might be willing to cover events beyond your team's entry, please let us know. Our developing policy has been to waive that judge's meal fee for your team and pay them for any additional rounds judged. Let us know! The key to making this a true national is fostering a quality judging pool; the key to making this a Christian national is keeping our dedicated alumni in the fold.

8) INVOICES AND CONFIRMATIONS: I will send out corrected invoices the day after the entry deadline. If you need an invoice earlier than that, feel free to contact me: sscott@georgefox.edu

Previous Updates:

TOURNAMENT DETAILS:

1) DATES: Registration will begin on Thursday, the 19th of March; competition will run from the 20th through the 22nd.

2) LOCATION: Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, CO.

a) Tournament Hotel: Hampton Inn, 137 Union Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado 80228.
