<p><strong>Tournament of Champions 2015</strong></p> <p><strong>Hosted by the Carroll College Talking Saints</strong></p> <p><strong>December 4 &amp; December 5, 2015</strong></p> <p>The Tournament of Champions at Carroll College will be hosted this year on the first weekend of December and will include varsity and novice debate- both LD and policy. We are offering one division of Public Forum using December NFL PF topic. Schools may enter 4 varsity policy; 4 novice policy; 4 varsity LD; 4 novice LD and 4 Public Forum. You may apply for extra slots, if space permits. Register by <strong>Friday, Nov. 27 on forensicstournament.net. Entry is open now.</strong></p> <p>The entry fee is as follows.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Policy &amp; Public Forum: $15 per team</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; LD: $10 per team</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Drops after 6 p.m. Weds., Nov. 25: $20 per entry penalty, plus the entry fee.</p> <p>Some important details:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Policy Topic:</strong> Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially curtail its domestic surveillance.</li> <li><strong>Lincoln/Douglas Topic:</strong>
Resolved: In the United States criminal justice system, jury nullification ought to be used in the face of perceived injustice</li> <li><strong>Public Forum </strong>Resolved: On balance, standardized testing is beneficial to K-12 education in the United States.</li> <li>We will allow <strong>electronic evidence and laptops</strong> for evidence in debate. <strong>NSDA laptop rules.</strong></li> <li>We will follow Montana High School Association <strong>(MHSA)</strong> <strong>rules of evidence</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Sweepstakes</strong>: policy quarters, 10; policy semis, 15; policy finals, 20; policy, 1st, 25; LD &amp; PF Q, 5; LD/PF semis, 7.5; LD/PF finals, 10; LD/PF 1st, 12.5.</li> <li>We may break to <strong>octa-finals</strong> in some divisions, if size merits, but no losing teams will advance. We will break brackets.</li> <li>Coaches will be <strong>encouraged to judge</strong> &ndash; and will be fed well. Bring extra judges, please &ndash; the last edition of this tournament was huge and we used every judge available.</li> <li><strong>Policy prep time</strong> will be five minutes; LD prep, three minutes; PF, two minutes.</li> <li>Awards are scheduled to begin no later than 7 p.m. Saturday, to allow a 7:30 p.m. departure for all schools NOT debating in a final round (which may occur after awards).</li> </ul> <p>As usual we offer: good judging, a computerized tab room, warm hospitality for coaches and classy awards befitting the fine debaters you always bring to our tournament.
