<p>The 2015 SCJFL Middle School Debate Tournament at La Reina HS</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Greetings to all the middle school debate clubs and schools!</p> <p>On Saturday, October 31, 2015 (Halloween), La Reina School will be hosting our league&rsquo;s first debate tournament of the 2015-2016 school year.&nbsp; It will be held at La Reina School in Thousand Oaks, CA.</p> <p>We hope that your school or organization will be joining us.&nbsp;</p> <p>Thanks,</p> <p>Melan Jaich, Director of Forensics</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Entries:</p> <p>Entries will be open until Friday, October 30 at 8:00am or until the tournament is full. After that, only Drops will be accepted.&nbsp; You may register your school and competitors at the following address:&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.forensicstournament.net/\">http://www.forensicstournament.net/</a>&nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p>NOTE: This tournament is only for schools within the SCJFL League and we will also close the registration when all rooms are full.&nbsp; Please register early to ensure your team&rsquo;s participation in this tournament.</p> <p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Fees:</p> <p>League Dues:</p> <p>$200 for school league fee (will only apply once this school year and will go to league needs throughout the year.)&nbsp; See Robert Cannon for details if this is your first tournament of the school year.</p> <p>Entries:</p> <p>$10 per Lincoln Douglas Entry</p> <p>$20 per Policy, Parliamentary or Public Forum Team</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Events:</p> <p>Lincoln Douglas Debate</p> <p>Public Forum Debate</p> <p>Policy Debate</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Team debate&nbsp;will use the 2014-2015 resolution.&nbsp;</p> <p>Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially curtail its domestic surveillance.</p> <p>Time limits for team debate are 8-3-5 with 8 minutes of preparation per debate team.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>L-D debate&nbsp;will use the 2014 NSDA September/October Resolution:&nbsp;</p> <p>Resolved: Adolescents ought to have the right to make autonomous medical choices.</p> <p>Time limits for LD are 6-3-7-3-4-6-3, with 3 minutes of preparation time per debater.&nbsp;</p> <p>Public Forum (PoFo)&nbsp;2014 NSDA&nbsp; Spetember/October Public Forum &nbsp;</p> <p>Resolved: The United States Federal Government ought to pay reparations to African Americans.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>7:30 &ndash; 8:30 am All schools register outside the Gym &nbsp;Postings in the Cafeteria</p> <p>9:00 am &ndash; Round 1 begin (Rounds follow and may be double flighted)</p> <p>5:30 pm &ndash;&nbsp;Meet in Cafeteria for Awards&nbsp;</p> <p>Food&nbsp; will be sold at the tournament.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Food will be provided free of charge to all judges and volunteers.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Judging Requirements:</p> <p>1. Each participating school or organization is being asked to supply 1 judge per 2 entries. &nbsp;</p> <p>2. All judges&rsquo; must be registered by 10/30/15. &nbsp;</p> <p>3. Also, coaches must arrive with the judges&rsquo; form filled out for record keeping and efficient category assignments.&nbsp; The judges&rsquo; form is available at <a href=\"http://www.scjfl.weebly.com/\">www.scjfl.weebly.com</a>.</p> <p>4. All judges MUST BE PRESENT AT THE JUDGES&rsquo; TRAINING or they will not be permitted to judge during the tournament and the judges&rsquo; fee will apply.</p> <p>5.
